Signal Atlas

Question 3 of 3

What’s near me? Licensed cell sites in 17 Canadian cities

Carriers must file the technical details of every mobile site with Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), which publishes them monthly. Signal Atlas groups those filings into 23,397 physical sites across 17 cities; 14,681 (63%) carry 5G.

5,711 sites (24%) look closest to 6G: towers and rooftops already on fast 5G. That is our estimate from licence data.

Common questions

Is there 6G near me?

Not yet. 6G has not launched anywhere and its first standards are not finished, so no site can be certified 6G-ready. The map marks the sites that look closest to 6G, towers and rooftops already on fast 5G, as an estimate from licence data.

Where does the cell-site data come from?

From ISED’s Terrestrial Spectrum Licence Site Data Extract, which ISED publishes monthly. The latest carrier upload used here is from October 2026. Rows within about 10 metres are merged into one site, so carriers sharing a tower show as one dot.

Which cities are covered?

Greater Toronto Area, Greater Montréal, Metro Vancouver, Calgary region, Edmonton region, Ottawa–Gatineau, Winnipeg region, Québec City region, Hamilton region, Kitchener–Waterloo–Cambridge, London region, Halifax region, Greater Victoria, Saskatoon region, Regina region, St. John's region and Windsor region.

What is left out of the map?

Rail radio and point-to-point backhaul links. Contact names and phone numbers in the licence file are not published here, and Wi-Fi and private networks are not in this data.
